My stride for the entire marathon, and the reason I don't do road races. Exaggerated leaping is slightly more justifable if there are rocks and roots below your feet.
Zane Grey Highline 51 Miler, 2006, starting line.
Zane Grey Highline, the trail.
I nearly tripped over every single one of these rocks.

The rustling. I can deal with spiders...I run through hundreds of webs this time of year.
I HATED running through spider webs. Used to do it all the time at Fort Hood, and they had huge banana spiders up there. Ugh.
When is the uphill vs. downhill poll coming out?
Yeah, I'm going to have to go with spider webs on this one too. I can force myself to ignore loud rustlings and pretend they didn't happen, but spider webs leave undeniable evidence all over you. I don't start my weekend runs at 11:30 because I'm lazy, I'm just trying to give all those ambitious 5:30 runners ample time to clear the path for me. And, because I'm lazy.
I would rather have a strange animal rustling in the woods beside me for an ENTIRE race than run into ONE web.
Spiders...ewwww! But you can always send the unsuspecting up ahead of you.
I'm skiddish so I vote rustle...especially if its dark!
the rustling!
spiderwebs can wipe off. what if the rustling is a mountain lion?!
Spider webs! YUCK!!! The rustling freaks me out still but usually is nothing and goes away. Spider webs "stick" with you the entire run!
Spider web, definitely. I hate spiders!
spider webs in the daylight.
rustling in the dark.
Spiderwebs…last trail run one of these buggers bit me, nothing to serious just a mild rash : ( Besides around the woods of Mass most unidentifiable rustlings are small and fuzzy!!
Spider Webs. This is now my excuse for not getting up so early to run.
The rustling since I am usually the first one out to clear the spider webs for the rest of you.
rustle for sure...especially since i have encountered 2 snakes this summer!
Hey, how 'bout an update? You know, because some of us who live in Colorado don't see you at all...
Running through spiderwebs, we dont have any BIG animals in Denmark (Some humans are though!)
