My stride for the entire marathon, and the reason I don't do road races. Exaggerated leaping is slightly more justifable if there are rocks and roots below your feet.
Zane Grey Highline 51 Miler, 2006, starting line.

Zane Grey Highline, the trail.

I nearly tripped over every single one of these rocks.

Plain 'ol, low cut, cheapo cotton socks.
When are you doing the jager vs. gatorade poll?
Thorlos all the way. Wore Injinjis once and got the worst blisters I've ever had. Never tried Smartwool, but they seem like they'd be scratchy.
Smatwool is the stuff legends are made of. I wear them in all weather and have very few problems. Even wet they rock. I wear them under my kayak boots when it's real cold and they keep my little tootsies warm.
Smartwool!! Smartwool!! For everything! Running, biking, hiking, kayaking...they just rock!!
Centipede just likes anything to do with sheep.
Do you know what time it is when sheep get their heads stuck in the fence?.......mountin' time
i actually like the wright sock with the double layers for blister prevention. i have tried the injinji and find them to be the best of those three in the poll. i mostly enjoy wearing them around the house to freak out my wife. :)

I'm with Matt on the Wright sock. I also love Belaga socks
Very cool site! And I vote for injinji - especially the pink ones ;)
I have been having great luck w/ Injinji but I only wish that there was a bit more underfoot protection.
Injinji among those three, though I agree that I would prefer a bit more underfoot. My favorite socks are the new Wigwam Ultimax X-Static.
I run trail ultras and there is no question here: smartwool. Period. Feels great even when wet, no blisters ever (though I also lube my feet, with bodyglide usually).
